Charity’s second Kendal-based dog event raises almost £1,000

Local charity CancerCare’s Kendal-based dog event, Woof & Wag, raised almost £1,000.

In its second year, Woof & Wag was held at Abbot Hall Park in Kendal. Abbot Hall Gallery kindly lent the charity use of their facilities and café.

Despite a bad forecast, the weather held off and dog show competitor basked in sunshine. 

Woof & Wag was sponsored by local doggy day care centre Taylor Made Dog Centre and Lune Valley Dog Agility ran a beginners’ course, giving people the chance to see if their dogs might have a hidden talent.

Champion of the feature dog show was Mac, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. 

Many local businesses donated items or joined the event with a stall. Lauren Hall Photo and Video captured the event on camera.

Woof & Wag was run by CancerCare, an independent charity in North Lancashire and South Cumbria dedicated to helping people affected by cancer, life-shortening illnesses or bereavement.

South Lakes Community Fundraiser Lisa Oliver-Hannis said: “The day has raised just a few pounds short of £1K for CancerCare which is a fantastic amount – especially given initial the weather forecast! 

“Thank you to everyone who supported the day. There was a wonderful atmosphere as we all came together to celebrate our four-legged friends. We loved seeing so many dogs competing in the show, including our defending champion from last year!

“Special thanks to our sponsors Taylor Made Dog and to CancerCare’s volunteers who also make events such as these possible. We couldn’t run days such as these without you.”
