CancerCare’s first Big Beautiful Egg Hunt attracted more than 500 participants and now everyone has a chance to bid for one of the fabulous artistic creations!
The big, beautiful eggs, designed by leading and emerging artists, will be auctioned off at Eighteen Eighteen Auctioneers at Junction 36 Rural Auction Centre off the M6 at Crooklands. People can enter the auction at 10am on April 23 or bid online at www.1818auctioneers.co.uk
The Big Beautiful Egg Hunt featured 13 stunning, hand-crafted egg sculptures and took place from March 24 to April 2. Egg hunters followed CancerCare’s art trail in shop windows around Lancaster City Centre and all participants were rewarded with a chocolate treat.
The artists included Chas Jacobs whose egg was on show at The Borough Hotel and Gastro Pub, Yuki Aruga at Joseph + Co, Ben Ark at Banks Lyon Shoes, Zoey Devaney at Pizza Margherita (which has also made CancerCare its Charity of the Year), Steve Wilson at Waterhouse, Anna Saczek at Renes and Firth’s, Helen Smyth at Buccelli’s, Hannah Postlethwaite at Photo Baby, Huma Ashad at Guys N Dolls Hair Boutique, Vanessa Lamb at The Bridal Collection and Catherine Marshall at Arteria.
“Chas and ourselves will be working together soon as a result of this work. Chas will be doing some bespoke designs for some of our products.”
Steve Wilson, the artist whose egg was on display in Waterhouse, said: “A few of my friends have stories that have motivated me to be more aware of cancer but my mother had breast cancer a few years ago and had to have a mastectomy and now has lymphedema as a result of the treatment, so wears compression sleeves.
“It affected our whole family but she is clear of all cancer now. After going through this, it made me more aware of what I have and to make the most of it while I have it.”
