CCTV appeal after Morecambe pub disorder

We have released CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with disorder at a pub in Morecambe.

Around 8.30pm on Boxing Day (Saturday 26 December) officers were called to The William Mitchell pub on Glentworth Road West following reports a group of males had attacked a man in the back room. When bar staff tried to intervene, the men allegedly attacked them before leaving through a side door.

Det Con Jill Neil, of West CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty incident and we are keen to speak to the man pictured in connection with our enquiries.

“If anyone recognises him or has any information that could help us to trace him I would urge them to contact us.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting crime reference WA1510673.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

Two men, both from Lancaster, were arrested following the incident.

Alexander Varey, 25, of Clare Road, Lancaster, was charged with violent disorder and grievous bodily harm, while Frank Varey, 33, also of Clare Road, was charged with violent disorder.

Both are due to appear at Preston Crown Court in April.
