For many couples, 2020 is set to be an exciting year- and one especially lucky pair will have even more reason to celebrate, as a heritage Lancaster business, The Royal Kings Arms, is offering a free dream wedding.
Christmas, New Year and Valentines Day are traditionally the most popular time for proposals, and with 2020 marking a whole new decade, romance watchers say this spring will herald the most engagements since the millennium. January saw same sex marriage become legal across the whole of the UK for the first time, so more couples than ever have the opportunity to say “I do”.
Lancaster’s Royal King’s Arms has long been at the heart of the city’s celebrations. Having initiated a huge multimillion pound renovation programme in 2018, they’ve modernised their bedrooms, improved the car park, created an outdoor seating area, freshened up their menus and hired a new chef, whose past experiences include L’Enclume in Cartmel and The Red Well at Kirkby Lonsdale. They’ve even introduced a fully plant based range for ‘Veganuary’.
So, to celebrate their renaissance, the hotel is offering one lucky couple a very generous wedding present – a bespoke package including a sumptuous wedding breakfast for forty guests.
Staff came up with the idea after hearing about a village who had clubbed together to provide a ‘community wedding’ for a local couple unable to afford it. With the hotel establishing strong links in the Lancaster community through local charity support, (Animal Care and ACE) and becoming a popular hub for social clubs and groups to meet, they felt this was their chance to do something really special.
Couples can enter at either of the two wedding showcases taking place at the Hotel in April and September. There’s also forms at reception, so hopeful brides-to-be can just pop in and collect one. The deadline for entries in 31st October 2020 and all details are on the website.www.royalkingsarmshotel.co.uk
General Manager, Bob Warrior said: “The Royal King’s Arms has been a central part of Lancaster life and celebrations since 1625; needless to say, it’s seen a few changes in that time! We’re excited at the transformations we’re making to keep it relevant and vibrant at the heart of city life, including opening the Brasserie restaurant, and the Crypt cocktail bar. With so much to celebrate, 2020 seemed the perfect time to give something back to the city we love.”
