Lancaster University 15th in the UK for the Student Experience

Lancaster University has risen from 21st to 15th place among UK universities in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018.

Lancaster was also ranked first for Good Accommodation, joint 3rd for Good Security and 6th for Facilities in the survey which draws together the views of over 20,000 full-time undergraduates in the UK. The University also shared in the top score for the quality of the library and library opening hours.

The students were asked to rank their own university across several categories including the quality of the facilities, lectures and courses as well as personal relationships with teaching staff, the social life, campus environment, extra-curricular activities  and whether “personal requirements are catered for”.

Provost for Student Experience, Colleges and the Library Professor Amanda Chetwynd said: “We listen closely to what students need and work with them to provide excellent facilities and services. “For example when we designed the Library, students were involved at all stages and it is great to see that all the different learning spaces are well used and appreciated.”

The 2017 National Student Survey also gave Lancaster 91% for overall student satisfaction.

Lancaster’s top ranking for accommodation follows several awards including Best University Halls in the 2017 National Student  Housing Survey.

This year Lancaster was named University of the Year by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, where it has also taken the top spot for Best Campus University and Best University in the North West.
