Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School, is situated in a spectacular rural location in the Lune Valley. This is an ideal location for living out the ethos of allowing children to be children. There is no rush to grow up here, but the foundations are laid for nurturing the resilience our children will need as young adults and the tenacity essential to achieving high standards in all that they do.
This is evident in the unrivalled activities programme and around-the-clock pastoral care. Allied to all that happens in the classroom, it is perhaps the breadth of opportunity and depth of involvement that sets us apart. From pony care to caving, mountain biking (on mountains!) to kayaking, ballet to ghyll scrambling, we incubate a sense of success and achievement in each and every one of our children. We awaken in them, at an early age, the joy of a challenge met.
The school’s facilities are outstanding: state-of-the-art Science laboratories, with teachers who are no strangers to explosions and dissections, a modern library, a floodlit Astroturf and tennis courts, a theatre, heated indoor swimming pool stables and much more. Balancing the academic with outdoor learning, we are creating a school farm – pupils already consult with our Chef to grow vegetables and herbs and this involvement is set to increase.
The school has a roll of 91 girls and 105 boys; day, full boarding, weekly boarding and flexi boarding are possible. Parents can visit both Sedbergh School and Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School at any time; every day is an open day! Visit the website or telephone for further information.
