One of the brightest and freshest naturally kind skincare ranges, Morecambe based Shoreline Skincare is rapidly gaining a devoted following.
Co-founder Ben D’Alton, who has run Harvey’s barbers in Bolton le Sands since 2016, never intended creating a natural skincare brand, until work and home mixed together- literally, in the kitchen sink.
He was looking for better skin, haircare and shaving products to sell in the salon and extensive research uncovered a frightening amount of unnecessary additives and preservatives, which can damage health and the environment. Ben knew his customers deserved better than that, so he set about trying to find something different.
His wife, Fiona had long suffered from reactive eczema, so they were also trying dozens of products at home, too. Working together they gathered a sort of tick list of non-negotiables: simple, kind. effective, 100% natural and sustainable.
Still drawing a blank they decided to try making their own!
Eventually Ben’s kitchen experiments yielded the goods. Using the first few tentative trials on her own skin, for the first time in years, Fiona was able to ditch her daily prescribed creams.
Customers at Harvey’s had been taking a keen interest the whole way through. “Any samples I took in were snapped up,” said Ben; “It was exactly what our customers had been seeking: natural, luxury-feel, quality products affordable for daily home use, too.”
Naming the brand to reflect his home town of Morecambe, Shoreline Skincare was assessed and approved for cosmetic safety. The range now includes skin, hair and beard products, soaps, cleansers, balms and moisturisers. Botanicals such as bergamot, peppermint, coconut oil and grapeseed gently cleanse, soothe, moisturise and fragrance.
“Cleansing bars are environmental heroes, having no palm oil or plastic packaging,” explains Ben, “Our bay leaf and lime shampoo bar is a finalist in the International Natural Health Beauty Awards. It’s the only bar to make the final and is great recognition of our passion and products.
All Shoreline Skincare products are available by online mail order. Ben’s also been busy trialling social distancing solutions like a postal selection box and monthly subscription deliveries to the bay area.
“It’s proven that mental health and resilience are intrinsically linked to hygiene and self-care. A simple health-care routine incorporating mood boosting natural fragrances can support and increase wellbeing, during social distancing and beyond.”
