Platform Autumn/Winter brochure out now

IF YOU fancy a great night out this autumn then get yourself down to The Platform, Lancaster City Council’s performing arts venue in Morecambe.

The venue’s latest brochure is out now and features the top class acts that will be appearing between September and February.

The new season is a vibrant mix of familiar faces and new acts who will be performing at the venue for the very first time.

Fitting firmly into the former category are Hugh Cornwell, Ralph McTell, Showaddywaddy, Limehouse Lizzy, Chantel McGregor and the Houghton Weavers, who are amongst those making a welcome return to the venue.

Morecambe Brass Band and the Promenade Concert Orchestra are also back for another visit.

But that’s not all. Live music fans can look forward to treats including blues band King King, singer/songwriter Dean Friedman, John Doyle, the Steve Gibbons Band, Elbow Jane, Gerry Marsden, The Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown and the Searchers.

Rounding off the programme are tributes to some of the greatest musicians of all time including Queen, Simon and Garfunkle, Billie Holiday, Elvis and Johnny Cash.

It’s not just music either – make sure you don’t miss wildlife cameraman Doug Allan, whose TV credits include Ocean Giants and Frozen Planet, who is bringing his one man show ‘Life Behind the Lens’ to the venue.

And as we come up to Christmas the Platform will be decking the halls for ‘A Classic Christmas’ featuring Christmas storytelling sessions, stalls, refreshments and two family festive theatre shows.

The Platform is also open every Thursday from 10am-12pm for you to come in and look around. There will be photographic displays and refreshments on sale. Keep up to date with exhibitions and events on Facebook: /MorecambePlatform

Copies of the brochure are available now from Morecambe and Lancaster Visitor Information Centres or online at www.lancaster.gov.uk/platform
