The hunt for Lancaster’s Diamond

Named the “Hunt for Lancaster’s Diamond”, this years adventure has new clues, a new route and fantastic prizes. First prize is a beautiful 0.65 carat diamond, kindly donated by Banks Lyons.

Initiated by Lancaster BID, the treasure trail has been designed to allow families time to enjoy the many attractions, shops, café’s and restaurants the city has to offer, in an un-hurried way.

It’s free to enter and as the journey around the city is a circular one, you can start anywhere along the route.  It’s 2 miles long and should take around 2 hours to complete, so it’s an ideal way to spend time together as a family during the school holidays.

BID Manager, Liz Hickingbotham explained “As a busy working mum, I’m always dashing about and like many others, although I’m often in Lancaster, I don’t stop and take it all in. We hope that taking part in the trail will encourage family visitors to spend more time in the city centre. It’s really good fun for all ages and with 20 clues, the treasure trail brings some of Lancaster’s best attractions into the front of your mind”.

So how does it work?

You can complete the trail at your own pace at any time between 18th July and 31st August.  Collect a treasure map from the Visitor Information Centre, Lancaster or download online at lancasterbid.org

Enjoy your time around Lancaster discovering new things, reaching landmarks, solving clues, whilst crossing off the names and places as you go. Finish the trail and return your completed map to The Visitor Information Centre, Juicafe or Wagon & Horses or submit online at: treasuretrails.co.uk/lancashire/lancasterbid.html or  lancasterbid.org

Other prizes include: A personalised toy bundle from the Entertainer, a one year Xplorer family and friends multipass from Lancashire Museums and four tickets to The Dukes Christmas production of Beauty & The Beast.

Prize winners will be announced on Friday 4th September, so to be in with the chance of winning a real diamond worth more than £1,000, put your best foot forward, grab a map and enjoy hunting for real treasure through the city centre!
