The Walled Garden at the Barton Grange Hotel, Preston will play host to expert ‘Whisky Evangelist’ Eddie Ludlow from Whisky Lounge on September 22, 2016. Eddie will be presenting some of the world’s finest whiskies in conjunction with a four course fundraising dinner in aid of Lancashire’s Derian House.
Eddie will take guests on a journey of whisky heritage, provenance and tasting, alongside a specially prepared four-course meal where each course will perfectly match the flavour, or even include, some of the amber liquor. Eddie’s presentation promises to entertain and educate guests – breaking down barriers, myths and legends whilst promoting the understanding of whisky as an historical and iconic drink.
All profits from the night will be donated to Derian House (http://derianhouse.net-work.net/). Drinks from 7pm, dinner at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event are £37.50 and are available from www.bartongrangehotel.com
Derian House offers end-of-life, palliative and respite care to some 300 children and young people aged up to 26 with life-limiting or life-threatening children from across the North West England, as well as offering bereavement support to a further 200 families.
Eddie is a recognised whisky expert having worked for Oddbins and Ardbeg and Glenmorangie, before setting up his own business in January 2008. He has written for various publications, has been a judge on the spirits panel of the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition for the last eight years and is set to be made a ‘Keeper of the Quiach’ this autumn.
“My mission, and that of The Whisky Lounge, is to turn everyone onto whisky” explains Eddie
“The dinner is a unique opportunity for whisky-lovers, and those prepared to be converted, to understand more about the background to their drams – where, how and why its flavour develops and to sample some of the hidden gems that I discover on my whisky travels.”
Daniel Rich, general manager of the Barton Grange Hotel, said: “Eddie is a renowned expert on whisky and we are delighted that he is joining us for what promises to be a really insightful and fun night. There will also be delicious food served by our first class team of chefs, all designed to complement the whiskies being served.
“We are thrilled that NEXT has stepped in to sponsor part of the event and all the profits from the evening will be donated directly to Derian House which plays such an important part in supporting the children of our community. Tickets are already selling fast so it’s best to contact us ASAP to guarantee a seat!”
“Thank you so much to Barton Grange Hotel and Eddie Ludlow for supporting Derian House through this whisky-tasting evening, as well as event sponsors NEXT,” said community fund-raiser Jo Moss. “It promises to be a night to remember – both for whisky connoisseurs and those wishing to learn more. We hope they’ll raise a glass to Derian House on the night!”
