2020 will be a memorable year for so many reasons, some better than others. Many of us are currently holed up at home, hoping that our actions will help flatten the curve of the Covid-19 pandemic spreading.
While we are at home – either alone, or with our families, we are removed from our “normal” day-to-day, our routine lives are morphing into a new routine, one that may or may not be comfortable for us.
Many knitters and crocheters I have talked to speak of two different sides of the coin – some are more prolific than ether finishing those UFOs and getting new projects started at a rate of knots while others, have WIPs collecting dust in project bags dotted around the house, while the making mojo is on a hiatus. Our community is important to us and we are gonna try to get us all back into a productive groove – together.
We now have a group on Ravelry for our weekly Knit, Knot and Natter sessions. We are looking to host weekly online sessions on Thursdays at 6pm BST, using Google Hangouts. We will update the Ravelry group with this link shortly.
We will be knitting along with one another making the Tin Can Knits Love Note Sweater Starting this coming Saturday. We have created a Ravelry group for this and will look at setting up a weekly video session as well, dat and time TBC. There will be prizes! Keep an eye on the Ravelry group page!
Finally – over a year later than planned, we will be going live with our own ecommerce website within the next week. It will not be 100%, but it will be better than nothing.
While we know that a website is not quite the same as Wendy and Melanie’s smiling faces and witty banter, it is a way to keep you supplied and to keep us connected – there will be a blog, and over time, patterns and video tutorials available on site as well as Yarns, Hooks, Needles and Notions.
If you find that you need wool or needles before we are live, please email or call 01524 65344 and leave a message – we will get back to you and help you as best we can. We stock a selection from: Rico, Rowan, Malabrigo, Fyberspates, Adriafil, Opal, Sirdar, KnitPro, Addi (crochet hooks), Clover, and more.
If you are looking for Jamiesons, WYS, Riverknits, Coastal Colours, Erika Knight and other British bands, please visit my lovely neighbour Kate’s online shop, Northern Yarn to see what she has got in store.
We are trying to keep shopping local in these difficult times and really appreciate all of your support.
Thanks – keep crocheting, knitting, and doing things with string. See you online or on the other side – stay safe and stay home if you can!
